September 17th, 2010

Greetings from the Nursery!

We hope this finds you well and enjoying your Summer Harvests! This Newsletter will be brief...by now, you all know that Fall Veggies have hit the Markets - and I must say, are selling fast! Broccoli, Purple Broccolini, Cauliflowers, Cabbages...and starting tomorrow: Kales and Beets! In a couple weeks, Peas, Radicchio, Bronze Leaf Fennel, Chervil, Lettuces, and more Edible Flowers!

MAJOR WEBSITE UPDATES

We also just finished updating our website www.twodognursery.com to include all Fall Veggies, Edible Flowers and Herbs... now available to purchase (through PayPal) and have shipped anywhere in the U.S. This was previously available only for Tomatoes.

Please have a look, and while there, you can check out the Fall Class Schedule. Classes are starting to get booked, so don't miss out; they're always fun and informative!

And finally, speaking of Tomatoes...we've adjusted the website to allow you to pre-order 2011 Organic Heirlooms. No time like the present to assure your favorites will be there for you next March! Also, it's too easy to forget which ones were winners!

We'd love to hear from you about your faves...a few of ours were Black Krim, Aunt Ginny's Purple, Green Giant, Aunt Ruby's German Green, Pineapple, and Kellogg's Breakfast.

ORGANIC CERTIFICATION INSPECTION

Mostly, we wanted to tell you the GOOD NEWS that we had our Organic Certification Inspection this past Monday (with CCOF), and Two Dog passed with flying colors! The "audit trail" they require is truly daunting, but with the help of our fearless part-timers, Sydney & Courtney, we were ready with bells on when the Inspector arrived. In fact, she said we were "miles beyond" many of the farmers she visits in terms of organization. She was also very complimentary about our clean growing practices, which was rewarding to hear. We should receive our Certificate in a week or two, and of course, we'll post it everywhere!

That's all for now. Take care and we'll see you at the Markets!
